PGI Enhances FIFA Analysis
Performance Group International Ltd (PGI), the UK-based provider of sports analysis technology and solutions, has extended its match analysis and instruction support provision for FIFA to include production of teaching materials and DVDs for FIFA's new international development programme FUTURO III.
The first stage of the assignment called for PGI to collaborate with FIFA's Director of Referee Development to produce a new generation of referee instructor course materials, which are being distributed to the continental Confederation's senior instructors on a series of DVDs entitled 'Teaching Materials for Referee and Assistant Referee Instructors.'
Teaching Materials
The new teaching materials are an integral part of the Referee Department's global initiative to standardize the interpretation and enforcement of the Laws of the Game around the world, and are the primary instruction resource for the FUTURO III courses.
The move follows the successful fulfillment of PGI's role as FIFA's provider of specialist match analysis and video services for the Referees Department during the Athens Olympics.
PGI's Experience
PGI's expertise was utilised to analyze up to eight matches per day during the first stage of the tournament. PGI was responsible for analyzing critical moments each game such as Management, Positioning, Penalty Area Incidents, Dangerous Play, Offside and other items identified as areas of focus during the pre-Olympics Referee's Course.
The analysed match incidents were then compiled into daily Debriefing videos and when appropriate archived for future instructional use. PGI provides similar support for a number of major Football Associations and has agreed terms to commence a program with one of the continental Confederations.
